Rooms often look bigger or smaller in photos depending on the lens and angle used. Even during a visit, an empty room can feel deceptively spacious. Without real measurements, you might assume your existing furniture will fit comfortably when it won’t.
By measuring walls, door openings and key distances, you can check properly: Will the bed fit with side tables? Can the sofa sit without blocking a doorway? Is there enough space to pull out chairs at the dining table?
This is especially important for bulky items like wardrobes, fridges and washing machines. Doors and staircases need to be measured so you can actually get them inside.
A simple tape measure and a quick sketch prevent the nasty surprise of discovering your favourite piece doesn’t fit, or that a room feels cramped once the furniture is in.
