When a door that used to open smoothly starts rubbing the floor or sticking at the top, something has changed. Sometimes it’s as simple as humidity causing slight swelling in wood, especially in certain seasons. Other times, it can hint at movement in the frame, settling of the building, or even moisture issues nearby.
On its own, a sticky door isn’t cause for panic, but it’s a small signal worth noting. Check if other doors or windows in the same area are affected. Look for cracks or damp patches near the frame. If it’s just one door and the problem appears suddenly, you might just need to plane the edge or adjust hinges.
Ignoring it completely isn’t ideal, though, because if the underlying cause is more serious, you’ll want to know sooner rather than later.
