When wind is strong, it naturally makes some noise around a building, but particular whistling, rattling or banging sounds often mean something is loose or not sealed properly. It could be a piece of flashing, a loose tile, a vent cover or a gap around windows and doors.
These weak points can let water in during storms or get worse over time. A rattling bit of metal might eventually tear free, causing damage or creating a new entry point for rain. Gaps around frames can lead to drafts and higher energy bills.
If you notice consistent strange noises during wind, try to locate roughly where they’re coming from and have someone check that area when the weather is calm.
Treat those sounds as hints that something on the exterior is asking for attention.
