Why is it useful to test flooring samples barefoot as well as in shoes?

Floors aren’t just something you look at; you feel them constantly under your feet. A surface that seems fine in shoes might feel cold, hard, slippery or unpleasant when you’re barefoot or in socks.

Testing samples barefoot tells you about comfort and safety. Does it feel icy in winter? Too rough? Too smooth in a way that might be risky in certain rooms? You might also notice how noisy it feels when you walk.

Since most people spend a lot of time without shoes at home – especially in bedrooms, children’s rooms and living rooms – it makes sense to check this.

A floor that looks beautiful but feels awful every time you step on it will annoy you daily. One that is slightly less “wow” visually but much nicer underfoot might make you happier in the long run.
